The Plymouth District Bar Association is pleased to announce that our renowned Law Day

celebration will take place on May 1, 2025 at the Plymouth Trial Court, 52 Obery Street,

Plymouth. This year’s program will commence with the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard providing the appropriate pomp and circumstance as they post the colors promptly at 9:00 am. One of our talented local high school students will follow with a stirring a cappella rendition our National Anthem. Students from local high schools will join us as we hear remarks by members of the local judiciary who will offer their thoughts and impressions of this year’s Law Day theme “The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One” The morning portion of our day-long series of events will culminate with a mock trial with students from one of our local high schools filling the roles of prosecutors, defense counsel, witnesses and (perhaps) jurors.

With this worthwhile program, the PDBA hopes to not only celebrate the rule of law, but also

offer young people the chance to get a glimpse of the inner workings of the system that seeks to apply the rule of law to everyday life. Our ambitious Law Day celebration will continue in the afternoon with a 2-hour CLE program “Winning Before Trial: Understanding and Applying the New-ances of Rule 14” This presentation will begin at 2:00 pm in the jury pool room on the 2d floor of the Plymouth Trial Court and will include invaluable information and insight from local practitioners. This program will be worth 2 CLE credits for CPCS purposes. In addition to the foregoing the PDBA will offer several exhibits of legal heritage provided by local students, police departments and members of the courthouse community. We will also provide tours to allow participating students to witness the actual practitioners of our judicial system operating in their natural habitat.

The PDBA Law Day program will culminate with our evening Law Day banquet which will take place at the Indian Pond Country Club, 60 Country Club Way, Kingston. The festivities will commence with a social hour at 5:30(ish) featuring passed hors d’oevres, followed by a blue ribbon buffet with roast sirloin of beef, salad, vegetable, coffee and dessert at 6:30(ish). High level negotiations are currently underway with an especially noteworthy and esteemed judicial luminary who will offer his thoughts and observations on a lifetime spent tirelessly applying the rule of law in the pursuit of justice. Stay tuned for details as our PDBA speaker’s bureau expects to have an announcement in the very near future in this regard.

The cost for this culinary bonanza is a mere $75 per person, and includes not only the fabulous hors d’oevres and delicious buffet, but also all the community, collegiality and camaraderie any one could ask for. So come join the PDBA as we once again present what has been called by some the “Gold Standard” of Law Day celebrations!!
